Practical information concerning various computer-related aspects connected to big moving action in January 2017.

General

  • Attached you will find a list of people, rooms and your future phone numbers. The allocation data were extracted from the current plans that were confirmed by prof. Hobza and prof. Jungwirth, but if you find any problem there, please let me or them know.
  • Second attachment contains a list of computers that are expected to be connected in the new offices. This list should be rather accurate, too, but it can be still be modified.

Moving

  • When packing your computers in Canon building, pack all the cables, except the network cable - it is usually "fixed" and must be left there. You will get a new connection cable from the IT support team.
  • Connecting computers to the network in the new location is managed by the ITS support team. Members of this team will help you to connect your computers once you move, but please take into account that many people will need help so the support guys may not be available immediately. To speed up the process, please communicate with other colleagues that you will share the room with, make your plan and call the support team to coordinate the time when they will come and connect as many computers as possible. When your things are moved, unpack your computer on your new desk, connect all peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse). Example: You know that your things will be moved on Wednesday morning. You talk to your future roommates and you all agree that you will be ready to get connected at 2 p.m. You call support and arrange that they will come at 2:30 and connect all all computers in the room.

Services

  • Your computers will be connected to the same network as in Canon building, so your IP address will stay unchanged. All connection methods, access restrictions, and setups will be the same as they are now.
