General Information
- The list of people, rooms and phone numbers (2016-11-23). The allocation data were extracted from the current plans that were confirmed by prof. Hobza and prof. Jungwirth, but if you find any problem there, please let me or them know.
- The list of computers (2016-11-23) that are expected to be connected in the new offices. This list should be rather accurate, too, but it can be still be modified.
Moving Computers - Instructions
- When packing your computers in Canon building, pack all the cables, except the network cable - it is usually "fixed" and must be left there. You will get a new connection cable from the IT support team.
- Connecting computers to the network in the new location is managed by the ITS support team. Members of this team will help you to connect your computers once you move, but please take into account that many people will need help so the support guys may not be available immediately. To speed up the process, please communicate at least with other colleagues that you will share the room with, make your plan, and call the support team to coordinate the time when they will come and connect as many computers as possible.
- To contact ITS support, call extensions 203 or 490 or send e-mail to helpdesk@uochb.cas.cz.
- When your things are moved, unpack your computer, arrange it on or under your new desk and connect all peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse).
Example: You know that your things will be moved on Wednesday morning. You talk to your future roommates and you all agree that you will be ready to get connected at 2 p.m. Call the support team and arrange that they will come at 2 p.m. and connect all computers in the room.
Services
- Your computers will be connected to the same network as in Canon building, so your IP address will stay unchanged. Also, all connection methods, access restrictions, and setups will be the same as they are now.
- The Canon wifi network will not be "moved" to the new location. Howeve, you can connect your devices to the IOCB campus wifi - see these instructions.
- As the Clara server is extremely old, it is very likely that it will not be revived in the new location. There are several important consequences that must be observed:
- The common disk space accessed by samba protocol (\\clara\common and \\clara\public) will be closed. For sharing files, all group members can use the common shared directory created on the institute SAMBA server: \\samba.uochb.cas.cz\Hobza and \\samba.uochb.cas.cz\Jungwirth. These shared directories are accessible for all member of the respective groups - use your albina login ID and password to connect. You can start using these directories immediately - they both are already working.
- There will be two common printers for both groups - HP LaserJet 4005 and Minolta bizhub C220. Both printers will be placed at the beginning of south-west wing in the niche. As there will be no clara server, most people will need to reconfigure their printing to print directly to the printers, not to clara server. Most Windows users already print directly to Minolta, so they will only need to reconfigure HP 4005. Configuration details will be published here.
- The remaining printers are old and do not have network connection. They will most likely be used in some offices, but details are to be solved during January.
- Scanning on Minolta will still be possible, but the system will need to be reconfigured to store the scans on different location. Details will be published here.
- E-mail setup, reading and sending mails will not change.
- There are a lot of services offered by the IOCB ITS department that you can use (now or later). Please have a look at the ITS web pages to see the description and instructions. To select just a few:
- SoGo integrated e-mail and calendar server,
- anonymous file sharing,
- ownCloud - cloud storage space,
- site software licenses,
- campus maps.
